Day 257: The 3rd Antidote

Here is the third piece in the Antidote series.  Turns out it works really well if you want to make some righteous ambient music also.  Starting to have my feet under me while using the device now.  After I get to feeling a little better with it you can expect a series of Revival pieces.  It's a little more difficult to use, mostly because of layout and interaction, but I'm hoping that those same challenges will ultimately lead to new and unexplored musical landscape.

Day 235: Spaced Out

As someone famous never said "I like my music like I like my women:  LONG, SLOW, AND AMBIENT."

As I continue my daily experiments with the Malstrom synthesizer unit I'm coming to appreciate it a little more.  Working with it takes a little more "effort" than Thor or Subtractor.  If you put some thought behind your decisions then the machine yields some stupendous sounds.  With Thor and Subtractor I frequently twiddle knobs and play with random routing to see how it comes out.  Malstrom requires a little more finesse.

This piece has a strong Brian Eno influence to it, although it didn't start out that way.  The synth stab you hear at the beginning was the start, which, to me, is very un-Eno-like.  It evolved into this kind of noisy ambient piece you hear here over a few days work.

Day 49: Piece in Our Time

Another in the series for string trio + piano.  In case you were wondering, all of the pieces in this series were written anywhere from 8 - 48 hours before you hear them.  In other words, the ink is barely dry on the page before it's in your ears.  Welcome to the modern age.

My dream now is to get these performed by real players.
