Day 499: 500!

It's been a long and productive trip.  I doubt that I will ever again produce so much music in so short a time.  I will be surprised if anyone I know (or don't know) has actually listened to everything I put out.  It's all been heard, even if only by a few.  Just under 18,000 plays as of today on Soundcloud, so I think I can safely say some people out there were listening.

I want to thank a few people for their encouragement and collaboration during this grand experiment.

Colin Fox (partner in crime in The 117th Parallel)
Frank Georg Lucas (excellent sound designer and composer)
Carl Holmes (awesome supporter)
Inphasouk Inthasomsack (awesome supporter)
Aaron Ciesliga (awesome supporter)
Laura Elvenly (awesome vocal collaborator)

There are a few more I'm probably forgetting, so I'm sorry if I missed you.

The album 500 Days album will be up on Bandcamp in another day or two.  To celebrate I'm making all 5 albums PWYW (Pay What You Want) for a brief period.

Thanks for listening.

Day 398: The Odd Cover

So this one is a cover of the Beatles "Why don't we do it in the road?"  It was inspired by a conversation on Reddit.  I hope you like it.

Lyrics:
Why don't we do it in the road?
Why don't we do it in the road?
Why don't we do it in the road?
No one will be watching us,
Why don't we do it in the road?

It's quite different than the original.  Like, on a different planet, but it the version was influenced by the backstory of the original.  It's one of the few tracks that almost none of the other Beatles were involved in, when they were still calling themselves a group.  Ringo played some drums on it, but that's about it.  I find that thought very depressing, so I've modulated the whole thing to completely minor chords to reflect said feelings.

Day 367: Into Year One

At the beginning of this project I did a cover of Lou Reed's "New Age", one of my all time favorite songs.  It was on December 21, 2012, the beginning of the Age of Aquarius.  I started today's version about five days before the end of Year Zero.  I've used the Velvet Underground version of the track, which has different lyrics, but is otherwise the same song.

Lyrics
Can I have your autograph
He said to the fat blonde actress
You know I've seen every movie you've been in
From paths of pain to jewels of glory
And when you kissed robert mitchum
Gee but I thought you'd never catch him
Over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
You're over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
I'll come running to you honey when you want me
I'll come running to yoy honey when you want me
Can I have your autograph
He said to the fat blonde actress
You know I know everything you've done
Anyway I hate divorces
To the left is a marble shower
It was fun even for an hour
Your're over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
You're over the hill right now
And you're looking for love
I'll come running to you honey when you want me
I'll come running to you honey when you want me
Something's got a hold on me
And I don't know what
Something's got a hold on me
And I don't know what
It's the beginning of a new age
It's the beginning of a new age
It's a new age

Day 70: Locked Out of Heaven

Been working on this cover of Bruno Mars' Locked Out of Heaven for awhile.  If you listen to popular radio, then you've probably heard this already.  Almost guaranteed if you live in America.  Anyway, I wanted to make it into something completely different.  I think I succeeded.

Hope you enjoy.

Also went ahead and made a video for it.
